The types of searches that will be allowed in HIPs will also have to be approved. Like other documents, searches will either be Required or Authorised. Required searches must be included in the HIP. Any other searches may be added at the solicitor's discretion, as long as they are Authorised.

Contrary to popular belief, Personal Searches WILL be allowed in Home Information Packs subject to the usual acceptance by lenders. The Council of Money Lenders (CML) is working hard to promote Personal Search Companies in order to increase the amount of lenders who accept their searches.
