Home Information Packs will not be paper documents. They are going to be completely digital as part of the governments drive towards e-conveyancing. Because HIPs will be in electronic form, it will therefore be necessary to transfer the information between parties electronically.
In a nutshell:
Look at your IT infrastructure - is it in need of an upgrade?
| Your office computers need to be networked and connected to the Internet (ideally broadband). You will also need to be able to scan documents | ||
Do you do online searches?
| You can apply for your searches online now if you are linked to a National Land Information Service (NLIS) channel - this will become a necessity when HIPs are introduced | ||
Do you have a case management system?
| HIPs will be in electronic form only - you'll need a case management system capable of incorporating HIPs when they arrive. ConveyanceLink already links Solicitors, Estate Agents and Homeowners electronically and will integrate neatly with the new LHIPs system to ensure an even quicker, smoother conveyancing process for all concerned. | ||
